The NeanderHall has gone through phase transitions before, each time becoming stronger. At the beginning, it was just a Google Group, and we all thought we were Neanderthals. Melons bad, Neanderthal good. Then we accounted for hybrid complexity, and the generally good original melon variants. Thus the 4 type system was born: TT, MT, TM, MM.
That system has reached the limit of its usefulness. It has been stretched, patched, tortured, and is now irretrievably broken.
This was inevitable. Any system that attempts to reduce humans to 4 types is hopelessly medieval and amateur. Going forward, I will perform typing on a more sound anthropometric basis.
The 4 types system was not a failure, just as the 2 types system was not a failure. We have captured an important component of psycho-anthropometric diversity. Each of the 4 halls has developed a clear central tendency. However, the forced admission of borderline cases has also damaged that tendency. In order to preserve the characteristic culture of the existing halls, we must create additional halls to accommodate those who do not fit.
I intend to type, study and admit all high IQ people, as long as they
1. are capable of disciplined forum posting,
2. lack Cro-Maggy (anti-social) facial features, and
3. do not threaten existing forum culture
Hence the first principle of this reorganization – do not destroy what is already good. TT’s, do not fear – your hall is safe. Yours is the best functioning hall. These changes will guarantee that future admits match your existing culture, rather than diluting and altering it.
For the TM and MT halls, which have not bonded as well, this is also good news. The excess diversity that plagued you will be divided into more properly harmonious groups.
For example, MT is too broad. MT-deepsock is one forum. M-back, indeterminate front is another. M-back, widespace is another.
Another example – we need a vthallowerface forum. That is a dominant trait with its own psychological expression range. Members will find much in common.
Another example – there should be a low-dr hall, where folks of testosteronized bent can compare their mutual mindset. And likewise, a high-dr hall.
The idea is to permit those with dominant expression of a certain trait to cluster together, discuss and identify their commonalities, and then use that knowledge to level up.
There are intelligent objections to this plan. I will address them in order:
1. Excessive forum subdivision will lead to fragmentation and community dieoff
2. Plan will result in increased typing workload and administrative overhead
3. Plan will suffer from subjectivity bias in typing
First, objection 1. I agree, this is a problem. To combat this, all new type forums will start off as invisible to non-members. Only when a forum reaches a critical mass of participation, and takes on a stable characteristic psychological tone, will it be eligible for general visibility. A mod with the trait will be appointed, and a vote by current members will determine whether and how visibility should proceed.
Second, objection 2. There is an unacceptable application backlog at the moment. I have appointed mods to aid me in forum organization, and I will also begin training a trusted face reading apprentice by going through the latest application stack together with him. This is the only way to multiply the skill that I’ve personally developed. Apprentice first, training manual second. Teach one before teaching many.
Third, objection 3. My own typing already suffers from the subjectivity problem. To correct, I will create a NeanderBase in FileMaker Pro. All applicants will be rank ordered, that is, compared against each other, for each trait. Then rank order cutoffs will be set for trait presence and intensity.
This sounds like a lot of work. For a long time I couldn’t figure out how to do it. But now I know:
1. Load the pics in Filemaker
2. Construct a layout for measuring x trait. Add a button that increments/decrements rank order by 1
3. Set everyone’s x trait rating to 0
4. Scan quickly through the pics to calibrate the range
5. First rating pass, each button click roughly corresponds to a standard deviation
6. Sort the rank order column. Standard deviation groups will be separated, with random intra-stdev ordering .
7. Replace the rank order column with n, n+1, n+2, etc. In other words, no more overlapping rank #s.
8. Pics are now in a rough order. Do a fine sort with the button.
9. Repeat 7 and 8 until satisfied.
This method requires no special scripts or software, and is reliable, effective, and objective.
All hail the new Edenic Anthropometry.
I ask that you bear with me during this reorganization. I will try to triage qualified people into the typed hall, just to clear the backlog. I’m taking days off from work now, so I should have more time. Also, the above method cuts down on the time and stress that typing people the subjective way created for me. It greatly grieves me to do things incorrectly.
